Editorial policy
Western Screen Culture aims for accurate, independent writing about Western films, television and screen traditions. We make our reasoning legible, correct the record when needed and tell readers when material has a commercial connection.
Accuracy and interpretation
We check names, dates and other factual details against suitable sources before publication, and distinguish documented information from interpretation. When a claim is uncertain or readings reasonably differ, our wording should make that clear. We do not present an interpretation of a film as the only possible one.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for relevance to readers and the publication's subject. A commercial relationship does not buy an editorial verdict, a favourable opinion or control over unrelated coverage. We do not imply access to private materials or first-hand research that we do not have.
Corrections
If you notice a factual error or a misleading passage, contact us with the article title and the detail in question. We review substantiated concerns and correct published material where warranted, making significant changes clear to readers where appropriate.
Partnerships and illustrations
Paid, gifted or otherwise arranged partner material is identified clearly, and partner links or placements are labelled so readers can distinguish them from editorial recommendations. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; where used, they are identified as such and are not presented as documentary images.
