Write for us

Western Screen Culture welcomes considered pitches about Western films, television and screen traditions. Send proposals through the Contact page, with enough detail for us to judge the subject, approach and fit.

What we welcome

We are interested in original essays that examine genre conventions, character, landscape, screen craft or the history of Western storytelling. A strong piece has a defined question, gives readers a clear way into the subject and supports factual claims with sources. Fresh interpretation is welcome; plot summary alone is not enough.

A useful pitch

Tell us the proposed title or central question, the main idea, the likely structure and why this angle is useful to readers now. Mention relevant sources and any commercial interests or conflicts. If you are proposing an article about a particular film or series, explain what the piece will examine beyond its synopsis.

Before sending

Please pitch the idea rather than sending a completed article unless we have requested one. We cannot promise publication or a response time. Send your proposal through the Contact page and select the editorial question option.
